Back in late December I promised new, better and more frequent content in my blog.
Well, shortly after that, on January 2nd, the building housing my business and 25 others burned down. Totally unexpected, obviously, and the building was a total loss so I lost everything from furniture, equipment, computers, files, etc. Pretty devastating but life goes on. The next few months were a little crazy and more than a bit disorganized. At any rate, it has taken me this long to get back up an fully running at a new location so my original promise is back on.
A lot of things have changed since last December including the election of a new president. The economy, while still bad, is showing signs of turning the corner. While it may take a while to get back to a "new normal" we are getting there. I have been keeping up on it all by reading and watching anything and everything I can get my hands on. It seems franchising is becoming bigger and bigger as more people lose their jobs and opt for investing in themselves instead of looking for jobs which are no longer there, which is something I've been saying all along.
There are opportunities out there. Fear and confidence, or lack thereof, are still the guiding forces for many people unfortunately but slowly I see it turning around. I know Bernie Madoff et al, AIG bonuses, bank bailouts, the decline of the American auto industry, trillion dollar deficits, etc. all serve to make us question everything and everybody.
Who do we trust anymore? It seems everything we once counted on is either gone or in serious trouble. But we are a nation of resilient people who, when knocked down, ALWAYS get back up and stronger than before. I am going to start posting articles detailing how people are investing in the only ones who cannot let them down - THEMSELVES - and doing it successfully.
Stay tuned.
